Welcome to the Scottish News letter, No 1 January 2010
As we welcome in a new year the SDA would like to wish you all a good new year.
I will have reports from the all Irish open 2009 held in Monaghan Ireland,
Plus Scottish premier league and First division held in Stonehaven.
A games and problem page,
As well as dates for tournaments over this year.
Report from the Irish Open 24-27th of October 2009 by Colin Young
We made the long Journey to the Irish Open at Monaghan Ireland, Anthony, Graham and Myself.
We missed the road to the venue so added 20 miles to our Journey,
We travelled in the Old Farm Focus as Graham’s Truck was still off the road for repairs.
We passed through a lot of pleasant countryside both in Scotland and Ireland.
When we got there we met up with a lot of our Draughts friends.
The Competition was of the usual tough standard but that’s how we like it.
The tournament was opened by Peter Cairns and Heather Humphries plus a few word by Francis McNally.
The Allegro System was used (1 .5hours for both games).
Jim Summers and Padda Sweeny were the Referees.
My First Opponent was Charlie McKenna,
Now I know Charlie is full of tricks on the Draughts board so I decided to keep it simple as it was Charlie got into diffiliculties and I won the game.
The next was a draw.
Anthony had 2 wins v Liam Doyle.
Graham had 2 draws with Con Boyle. The Competition was hard fought right to the end
